Bought for my daughter - so not used myself - but she seems delighted with it.
Especially for practice time, works really well. It's simply the best to have for this. As well for gig time or home studio starter. Strong building and hardware quality is more than I expect. APP that I use is Jamup pro from positive grid.
the lightning connection is a bit hokey. Sometimes it just loses connection without the ipad or iTrack moving at all. It would be a great idea if the connection stayed up.
So far the dock has performed well with my band. The only complaint I have is that there's something rattling inside the dock itself. I'm afraid to open it up to find out what is and I can't afford to let it go back for repair for more than a couple days.
I love my iTrack Dock, and coupled with a mobile power inverter has allowed me to make unique field recordings on foot without lugging around a lot of gear. The only piece of the puzzle I haven’t figured out yet is to get a Lightning-to-Lightning male-to-female extender so I can be shooting video while also making a pro-quality audio recording. But that is because that cable is hard to find, and nothing to do with Focusrite’s excellent product.
Love it. Plug and play. Sounds fabulous. Perfect for those of us who do it one track at a time (I run Auria.) Nice that it charges my iPad. I like it so much I bought a Scarlett 18i20 for bigger projects.
Great product! Meets all my iPad recording needs!
2-channel Docking iPad Recording Interface with Lightning Connection that charges your I pad! Using a Novation Launchkey it talks both ways to ipad and all the keyboard changes show on the iPad and it uses the USB port on iDock and powers it also. Im using a Dito Looper into a Roland VT 3 with stereo outs pluged into the iDock and the volume is controlled with iDock. I have another ipad pluged in the instrument input with 1/8" to 1/4" TRS and the volume is controlled with ch 1 volume. So with the volume on the LaunchKey Im counting 4 volumes you can control and the Big Knob! This gives you quite a nice rig with iPad running without a computer! I have a picture posted off my rig on the Focusrite iDock on FaceBook! Way to Go Focusrite and Novation and you can use a iPad Pro with a lighting extender cable Woot Woot!
The iTrack Dock will turn your iPad into a studio power house!
I have owned an iTrackDock for about 2 years. I am a working live musician using an iPad as my second keyboard. I have an iPad Air 2 (A7) processor and use a Roland A 49 as the keyboard controller. Having access to all the fabulous music apps out there gives me an unlimited palate of sounds to choose from. I don't know why more folks don't do this considering I have access to thousands of dollars of hardware equipment in a 3 lb package! (And apps cost way less then keyboards!) The most important thing to keep in mind is the audio output of the Focusrite's 1/4" stereo channels is MUCH better than the iPad's headphone jack outputs. Focusrite's high quality channel strips and DAC's vastly improve the iPad sound engine. Being able to power both iPad and controller from the dock is an added plus! There are other iOS I/O's out there, but this is the only one I would recommend for live applications. The only caveat is I wish Focusrite had included standard 5 pin DIN midi ins and outs to be more compatible with older gear. This is why I only gave it 4 stars. I realize that this product is geared more towards electronic musicians than "traditional" players, but it's the only knock I have on an otherwise fine product. If the old midi jacks are of no concern, then give it 5 stars!
the item works perfectly for my needs ..its an ideal solution to interact with my ipad
The iPad dock does what it said it would do but it gets very hot while in use with iPad connected
This piece of equipment has been invaluable to me. My iTrack Dock is used every day and has never let me down. Great sound quality and functionality. Totally recommended!
Fine for all the audio features, midi is a big let down, check your gear works with it first, there is a long list of stuff that doesn't.
The I track dock did not fit my iPad Air 2, height was wrong. Cut out all the time. Shelved the up/downgrade and went back to my old 8i6 on an old Windows Desktop. So not happy at all.
As someone who's worked in professional studio environments for decades, I've been hesitant in giving the iOS platform a serious look, and a big part of that being because of AD/ DA connections with my iPad. This unit came highly recommended, and after further research I purchased one, and I'm delighted with it. It sounds fantastic, it's easy to operate, it allows me to use an iPad setup instead of a laptop or Mac Mini, etc. I'm 100% sold on this product. Great for writing sessions, remote recording, etc.
I'm not that tech savvy so I need something low maintenance and easy to use. The Itrack dock just works beautifully. No updating, no confusion, just simple and reliable. I later had to buy an interface for Dj purposes and recording and made the mistake of trying to save a couple of bucks by buying a cheaper brand. Hours of headaches later I returned it and got the Focusrite interface and I've been problem free ever since. I love the beauty and quality of your products and if given the choice will always choose Focusrite.
It scared me,I thought it was too flimsy to hold my iPad 4.Did not like having to go out on line to get the reel to reel that never came through any way.Did not like I could not plug in a stereo source,USB INPUT only,no 5 pin MIDI I/O.The sound was great.I liked the Berhinger unit better because of all the features & knob & inputs, out puts are easy access. But will not work with the apple lighting & their tone sucks & is noisy. So I bought a Alesis io dock ll instead & returned yours.
Not enough gain for the mikes. Some noise when Bluetooth and/or Wifi are on. For the rest, it is a good Work horse for ideas or demo.
Very difficult to work well. One channel doesn't pick up very well. The other won't even recognize plugged in instruments. The iPad microphone works better! Maybe mine is faulty. I have heard good reviews otherwise.
This is a great machine and I use it often with my iPad 6. Unfortunately, it does not have a video out, but I can blue tooth my iPad thru Apple Air for viewing on my Smart TV.
Sound quality was good. However, the Ipad dock was overheating my Ipad. I choose to return it to the store, rather than risk damage to my Ipad (which is now funtioning as my home studio).
This a great piece of gear! Too bad all equipment dosen't do what is supposed to as well as the iTrack Dock. I use GarageBand on an iPad just for fun and when I docked it with iTrack everything I wanted was right there. I have a brother that does a one man gig and when I told him what I was able to do with the iTrack, he went right out and bought one. I'm pretty his review would sound a lot like this one. Price, flexibility, connectivity and quality this is the one to buy!
A perfect solution for getting audio and midi into cubasis. Beats my old tascam Porta studio on every front. But it is old now lol. 👍 no latency I can detect.
Had an iDock for two years now. Never a bit of trouble. Used it with an iPad Air 1, iPad Pro 12.9 and an iPhone SE. I use a Dock Xtender cable from Cable Jive which allows me to put the pad or phone where I want it. Used with Midi keyboard, various solid body and archtop guitars, and condenser and dynamic microphones. I have the major iOS DAWS, Synths, and guitar effects all work happily with the dock. The pre amps are superb. The Focusrite iTrack Dock is the heart of my bedroom studio. Thank you for making this fine product.
Badly designed product.USB incompatible with both my korg keyboards. If I knew before I purchased I would'nt have bought it.
Great product for on the go!
I love my Itrack its small neat compact and portable I use it to make music on the go It's perfect for the beginner and easy to use with the many apps it opens up the potential of the iPad
Just brilliant. Clean sound and super easy setup
A beautiful piece of hardware, great sounding. It would be a 5 star app if I could use my Akai midi devices with it.
The dock itself sounds great recording into capture. I wish there was a version for my iPad Pro (large version). Using the dock with Capture, I can quickly lay down ideas and import them into StudioOne. This is a worthy unit.
I am happy with this investment as it's an easy way to pick up and head to the practice space for my band and get stuff recorded. Even better to air drop those tracks to garage band on my mac computer and be able to mix them in that vein. The only complaint would be that it would be nice to have some other power supply than the ac adapter so it could be used wherever.

Great piece of kit. Recommend.

Everything I expected and better. Brilliant product... Can see I'm going to get so much use out of this.
