Before I bought this, I was unable to use my analog microphones on my desktop PC (even when I used an XRL-female to USB-male cable). The sound was horrible, even with the volume turned all the way up on Audacity. But when I got this Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen audio interface, it fixed everything. Both of my microphones now sound loud and clear on my computer. I'm very glad I discovered this product. It was pricey, but it fixed my problem.

I HAD to replace my 10 years old IMac and got a very decent Mac studio but of course my old ux2 toneport will not get any updates so I ended googling for hours and the Focusrite name would keep coming. Bought the cheapest option available and oh how happy am. Will probably need to upgrade it soon though. So fast and solid, simple and clean. Recordings have been so smooth since!

Build quality feels really nice, but for how much I’m paying I get almost no features… First, this is aimed at entry level/beginner people into the scene… so although professionals would most likely not care, here are some QOL features that would go a long way. 1. A hardware mono feature…. This interface only has ONE mic input… so it doesn’t make sense to have it locked to the left channel with NO way of converting it to mono, because most people buying this product will want it to be mono… if they want left and right separation, they will be buying a higher end product with multiple mic inputs. 2. Again, for ENTRY consumers… adding at least a 1 3.5mm jack, or a adapter in the box would be another massive QOL for the target consumer of this. 3. Because the software comes with this product, the software is HORRIBLE. It adds zero additional functions and just breaks the operation of the mic. I had to uninstall the software and drivers to make my set up work again. There is no tweaking or manual control, no switching source to mono or isolating once source over the other… there is no added benefit at this beginner level tier. I’m sure with higher end products, this software is very useful… but for this product and it’s target audience… it does nothing but remove features. (It adds about -30db to the mic input… on default windows drivers mic sounds great at ~60% gain, but with your drivers and software, gain MAXED, you can BARELY hear the mic with audio at max) Honestly if I had known all these things going in I probably would not have gotten this audio interface… kind of disappointing Not a 1 star because phantom power built in is really nice, and have a instrument/line input is nice… plus build quality and ease of use (plug and play) is really convenient… but missing the target audience this much is pretty unacceptable for a “entry level” audio interface in my opinion as the target audience…

I was not aware “usb powered” meant it has to be delivered luged into a computer to work. Any other type of usb power will not work. Absolutely useless. Heading for the garbage as it’s too expensive to return to England!

There is no tweaking or manual control, no switching source to mono or isolating once source over the other… there is no added benefit at this beginner level tier. I’m sure with higher end products, this software is very useful… but for this product and it’s target audience… it does nothing but remove features. (It adds about -30db to the mic input… on default windows drivers mic sounds great at ~60% gain, but with your drivers and software, gain MAXED, you can BARELY hear the mic with audio at max) Honestly if I had known all these things going in I probably would not have gotten this audio interface… kind of disappointing Not a 1 star because phantom power built in is really nice, and have a instrument/line input is nice… plus build quality and ease of use (plug and play) is really convenient… but missing the target audience this much is pretty unacceptable for a “entry level” audio interface in my opinion as the target audience…

I was not aware “usb powered” meant it has to be delivered luged into a computer to work. Any other type of usb power will not work. Absolutely useless. Heading for the garbage as it’s too expensive to return to England!

What a well built small powerhouse. I had literally no experience in the recording game and this is the easiest thing to start up and use. In about an hour to two hours you can be set up, recorded, and have a track minimally EQ'ed. Fantastic product.
